Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Information about each project was provided by the requesting entity. Amounts requested are not guaranteed; funds secured are likely to differ from the requested amount. Senator Tester's appropriation requests to the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Subcommittee for Fiscal Year 2010 are listed below. Fort Harrison Fire Station
Amount: $1,250,000
Montana National Guard (Fort Harrison, MT) The Montana Army National Guard Fort Harrison Fire Station is a 4,167 square foot building constructed in 1995. It does not provide adequate bays for new Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Fire Trucks and appropriate storage for related and unique firefighting equipment at the Fort Harrison Fire Station. This situation makes the equipment unavailable to respond rapidly, if at all, in the event of an emergency. Fort Harrison Troop Medical Clinic
Amount: $1,750,000
Montana National Guard (Fort Harrison, MT) The Fort Harrison Troop Medical Facility is a 4,530 square-foot building which was constructed in 1995. Increased volume of Periodic Health Assessments has resulted in drastic overcrowding of waiting areas, exam areas, laboratory space and administrative spaces. This present condition can compromise soldier privacy and compliance with HIPAA requirements. Malmstrom AFB Fitness Center, Phase II
Amount: $9,900,000
Malmstrom AFB (Malmstrom AFB, MT) Provides Phase II of a Fitness Center including indoor swimming pool, group exercise area, Health and Wellness Center, administrative office, and racquetball courts. Meets Air Force Fitness Center Design Standards and Department of Defense force protections standards. Malmstrom AFB Weapons Storage Area Upgrade Phase II
Amount: $9,600,000
Malmstrom AFB (Malmstrom AFB, MT) Work includes adding conventional explosives storage igloos, a maintenance facility, and utility infrastructure upgrades. The project will upgrade the existing Weapons Storage Area. Facilities will be replaced because they are not economical to renovate. Infrastructure, pavements, and drainage will be upgraded or replaced in the project. Previous project scope was to construct a new Weapons Storage Area at a different site. However, it was determined to be more cost effective to upgrade the existing Weapons Storage Area instead of relocating all the facilities. Miles City Readiness Center
Amount: $14,260,000
Montana National Guard (Miles City, MT) The existing Miles City Readiness Center is 8,481 square feet and was built for an Armored Cavalry Unit in 1957. As a result of Force Structure Transformation, the current unit occupying this facility is the 260th Engineer Company, for which the facility is improperly designed and grossly undersized. The State of Montana has entered into a 35 year lease (renewable to 99 years) for the land. Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery
Amount: $1,500,000
VA Montana (Billings, MT) There is no national cemetery in Montana, and the nearest state cemetery to Yellowstone County is more than 100 miles away. However, 20 percent of Montana veterans live in Yellowstone County. The Veterans Cemetery will be built to National standards so all Veterans and their spouses are welcome to be buried there. The proposed program will develop and construct the second phase of the Veterans Cemetery. The cemetery will encompass over 46 acres dedicated to the peaceful interment of our Nation's Veterans. The cemetery layout provides for burial capacity for over 75–100 years. |
