Tester Announces Nearly $4.5 Million for Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport

Funding will be used to expand airport’s ‘apron’ used for parking, loading, and fueling of planes

U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced $4,482,537 in funding for Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport to expand construction on the airport’s apron, used for the parking, loading, and fueling of planes. The expanded apron will allow greater airport traffic and expand capacity for air travel to and from Bozeman.

“As Montana’s fastest growing city, it’s essential that Bozeman has the infrastructure in place to support more efficient air travel,” said Tester. “This investment will not only allow Montanans to stay connected, but it will help to support the Gallatin Valley’s booming tourism industry, create jobs and boost Montana’s economy.”

The funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The AIP provides grants to public-use airports for planning and development projects.

Tester has long been a champion for updating Montana’s infrastructure. He recently passed his bipartisan infrastructure package through the Senate, which will secure urgently needed investments in Montana’s aging roads, bridges, waterways, airports, broadband, and more. He also secured $74 million through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for more than 70 Montana airports to cover operating expenses, staffing, and development projects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
