Butte to Receive New, Daily Flights to Denver, Salt Lake City, Tester Announces

Senator: “Montana is open for businesses, and these flights will help create jobs, increase tourism, and bolster the local economy by helping attract exciting new businesses to Southwest Montana.”

U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced that SkyWest Airlines is set to begin daily service from Butte to Denver and Salt Lake City.

“Bringing more flights into Butte is welcome news for the region and our economy,” Tester said. “Montana is open for businesses, and these flights will help create jobs, increase tourism, and bolster the local economy by helping attract exciting new businesses to Southwest Montana.”

Tester is Montana’s only member of the Senate Commerce Committee. He recently secured a spot on the Aviation Safety, Operations, and Innovation Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over air travel, where he has fought tirelessly to bring more business to Montana’s transportation and tourism industries, and even secured a commitment from Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to prioritize transportation investments in rural America.

As airports continue to struggle to keep up with costs after the COVID-19 pandemic drastically reduced air travel, Tester secured $74 million through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for more than 70 Montana airports to cover operation expenses, staffing, and development projects.
