Tester Congratulates Red Lodge’s Calahan Baker on Acceptance to West Point

Senator nominated Calahan and 18 other Montanans for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies’ classes of 2025

U.S. Senator Jon Tester congratulated Red Lodge High School student Calahan Baker today on his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Calahan is a varsity football and soccer player, and a varsity wrestler at Red Lodge High School. He is his class vice president and vice president of his chapter of Business Professionals of America.

“Helping young Montanans achieve their dreams of attending one of our nation’s prestigious Military Service Academies is one of my greatest honors as Montana’s Senior Senator,” said Tester. “Calahan has proven that he’s an exceptional Montanan, as well as a tremendous student and leader, and I wish him all the best on this exciting new journey at West Point where I have no doubt he will serve our state and country proudly.”

Tester nominated Calahan-along with 18 other Montanans-in December based on his academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is the first step in students’ applications to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
