Tester Announces Funding for Helena’s PureView Health Center

$2.5 Million Grant Will Increase Access to Affordable Health Care in Lewis & Clark County

(U.S. Senate) – In a big win for folks across Lewis & Clark County, U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced more than $2.5 million in funding for Helena’s PureView Health Center.

Tester helped secure the grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Community Health Center Fund. Tester was the only member of Montana’s delegation who voted to fund this initiative last year.

“Community health centers are a critical source of care for folks across Big Sky Country,” Tester said. “This funding will help PureView Health Center provide the quality care these folks need without burning a hole in their pocketbooks.”

One in 10 Montanans rely on community health centers for primary, dental, and mental health care every year.

“PureView Health Center serves more than 7,000 patients per year with team-based, patient-centered care, and we work hard to deliver the highest quality of care while maintaining low costs to our patients,” said Jill Steeley, Executive Director of PureView Health Center. “This grant money helps us to continue to provide those services, plus many more that are critical to helping people get the preventative and acute care they need, when they need it. We thank Senator Tester for his on-going support and commitment to our community health center.”

Tester was recognized as a national champion for community health centers after leading the charge to reauthorize funding for community health centers last year. Without Tester’s efforts, clinics across the country would have seen a 70 percent drop in federal grant funding, forcing many to cut services, lay off medical professionals, or close altogether.
