Tester Hosts 6th Farm Bill Listening Session

Senator Hears from Community Leaders on How to Improve the Farm Bill, Support Montana Families

(Missoula, Mont.) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester today held his sixth Farm Bill Listening Session to hear from community and faith leaders, government officials, and members of the public about how the Farm Bill can address hunger and help feed Montana families.

“No Montana family should ever go hungry,” Tester said. “That’s why we need a strong Farm Bill that invests in our communities and puts food on the table for folks in need. I look forward to hosting more listening sessions across the state and working to ensure the Farm Bill works for all Montanans.”

Representatives from Montana’s nutrition advocacy groups praised Tester’s willingness to receive input on this important issue.

“The Farm Bill is an important tool for feeding all Montana families, including those facing tough times,” said Lorianne Burhop with the Montana Food Bank Network. “We appreciate Senator Tester bringing community leaders together to discuss this important issue. His relentless advocacy on behalf of Montana families is an asset to our state.”

Tester, the Senate’s only working farmer, has held previous Farm Bill Listening Sessions in Billings, Missoula, Lewistown, Glendive, and Kalispell.
