Tester, Daines Lead Effort to Dedicate Feb 5-11 National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week

(U.S. Senate) – U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines are joining a bipartisan group of 18 senators in highlighting the outstanding work of Montana students, teachers, and education professionals at tribal colleges and universities by commemorating the week of February 5-11 as National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week.

“Tribal colleges and universities are vital to the success of communities across Indian Country,” said Tester, member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. “These academic institutions provide an opportunity for Native students to connect with their cultures, while gaining an education that will prepare them for a bright future.”

“Tribal colleges and universities play an important role in the future of Indian communities,” Daines stated. “The crucial work being done by these institutions provide necessary educational and job-training services for tribal members looking for success in their careers.”

There are seven Tribal colleges and universities in Montana, the most of any state, which accept thousands of Native students and hundreds of non-Native students each year.
