Tester Supports Trump’s Transportation Secretary, Opposes Secretary of State Nominee with Russian Ties

(U.S. Senate)-U.S. Senator Jon Tester today released the following statements after voting to confirm Elaine Chao as U.S. Transportation Secretary, and announcing his opposition to former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State:

“Rebuilding our roads and bridges will put folks to work, better connect local communities, and help our businesses get their products to market. I am confident that Secretary Chao is committed to investing in our aging infrastructure, and I will work with her closely to ensure that any infrastructure legislation meets the unique needs of Montana.”

“Rex Tillerson’s connections with Russia and Vladimir Putin are too close for comfort, and his unwillingness to tighten the screws against Russia leads me to believe he may not always act in the best interest of the United States.”
