Walsh, Tester meet with Turning Winds students

Senators welcome Troy teens to Washington, celebrate Eagle Scout

(U.S. SENATE) – Senators John Walsh and Jon Tester today met with students and staff from Turning Winds Academic Institute in Troy.

In Tester’s Washington office, the students and teachers asked questions about student loan refinancing and public service. The Senators also presented one of the students, Daniil Cheadle, with letters congratulating him on becoming an Eagle Scout.

“The students asked thoughtful questions that showed their interests in government and their community,” Walsh said. “I know Montana will enjoy a bright future in their capable hands and am grateful to the teachers and staff at Turning Winds for all they do to shape Montana’s youth.”

“As a former teacher, I enjoy every chance I get to speak with students and teachers.” Tester said. “It’s refreshing to hear students tackle complex issues with confidence, and it reminds me of the importance of an education in civics. The folks at Turning Winds are doing a great job nurturing Montana’s next generation of leaders.”

Turning Winds Academic Institute is a family-run therapeutic boarding school for troubled youth that draws students from across the nation.

The students and staff were visiting Washington as part of a school trip to learn more about American history and how government works.
