Tester on VA bill becoming law: Just one step

Senator pledges to keep working for nation’s veterans and their families

(BIG SANDY, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester, a senior member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today released the following statement after President Obama signed the VA reform bill into law:

“This bill is an important step to getting more veterans the care they earned, but it’s only a step. I will continue working with anyone committed to improving the lives of veterans and their families. This nation made a solemn commitment to its military men and women, and we must honor it day in and day out.”

Tester, Montana’s only member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, served on the conference committee that negotiated the final reform bill.

Tester made sure the bill reflected the needs of rural veterans and addressed many of the concerns voiced by Montana veterans at the Senator’s listening sessions across the state, primarily the need to increase access to timely care through additional medical personnel, investments in VA facilities and improved scheduling practices.
