Tester, Walsh meet with Montana 4-H students in nations capital
(U.S. SENATE) – Senators Jon Tester and John Walsh this week met with 4-H students from across Montana in Washington, D.C.
At the meeting in the Senate, the students were eager to hear about everything from wolves to the college affordability bill Tester and Walsh support. The students also asked the Senators what they like most about their jobs.
“Students get out of 4-H what they put into it,” said Tester, a former teacher and farmer. “Based on the conversation I had with these young Montanans, I can tell they are taking advantage of opportunities that are preparing them to contribute to our state as well as our nation.”
“The students were excited to be in Washington, and it was clear how committed they are to their communities in Montana,” Walsh said. “Meeting with Montanans -and especially students who are so engaged – is one of the best parts of my job, and makes me confident we can secure a bright future for Montana.”
The students traveled to Washington, D.C. as representatives of their 4-H clubs. Montana 4-H is the largest afterschool program in Montana, with approximately 25,000 students participating each year. The students traveled to Washington from Billings, Circle, Dillon, Laurel, Roberts, Saco, and Wise River.
