Tester honors Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

“Today, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s a moment to reflect on what Dr. King stood for and what he accomplished.

Dr. King changed how we think about – and treat – others. No longer is discrimination acceptable, no longer can we ignore our founding charter: that we are all created equal.

It is our responsibility to carry on Dr. King’s message to our kids and grandkids. To make sure we do not forgot the lessons that Dr. King sacrificed so much to achieve.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day may be just one day, but Dr. King’s lessons should be with us every day.

I encourage all Montanans to honor Dr. King’s life and legacy and live up to our status as the Last Best Place.”
