Tester calls Yellen a ‘strong leader’ to strengthen the economy

Senator votes to confirm Yellen as next Federal Reserve Chair

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, today released the following statement after voting to confirm Janet Yellen to become the next Chair of the Federal Reserve. The Senate confirmed Yellen, who previously served as the Federal Reserve’s Vice Chair, by a vote of 56 to 26:

“Janet Yellen is a strong leader who will build consensus and bring folks together to strengthen our economy and help put our nation on sound financial footing. I am proud to support her as the next leader of the Federal Reserve.”

Tester met with Yellen this past fall after her nomination was announced. They discussed Yellen’s background and experience, her views on the work of community banks, and fiscal policy that continues to support economic growth.
