Tester helps ‘kick-off’ Small Business Saturday

November 24 dedicated to supporting local businesses, creating jobs

(GREAT FALLS, Mont.) – After holding 12 Small Business Opportunity Workshops across Montana, Senator Jon Tester knows firsthand that small businesses are the backbone of the Big Sky State’s economy.

That’s why Tester is encouraging Montanans to participate in ‘Small Business Saturday’ this Saturday, November 24.

Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event held the first Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage Americans to shop at small businesses in their local communities.

“When Montana’s small businesses grow and create jobs, our economy and communities benefit,” said Tester, who joined a bipartisan Senate resolution designating this year’s event. “I want all Montanans to kick-off their holiday shopping at their neighborhood businesses and support our local communities.”

Small Business Saturday began in 2010 to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. Last year, more than 100 million people participated.

Tester’s successful 12 small business workshops connect Montanans with resources to start and grow small businesses. More than 2,000 Montana companies and individuals have attended Tester’s events, with the most recent workshop connecting Montana startup companies and entrepreneurs with nationally renowned experts in finance and successful entrepreneurs
