Tester meets with TransCanada CEO, talks Montana jobs

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after meeting with TransCanada CEO Russ Girling to discuss the status of the Keystone XL Pipeline and the importance of hiring Montanans for the project:

“Montanans have the skills and work ethic needed to build the Keystone XL Pipeline – and build it right.  In my meeting, I pushed TransCanada to hire Montanans when they start building in Montana.  And with the Bakken booming, I reinforced the importance of the Baker on-ramp to carry Montana oil and gas to market.”

Tester also handed Girling a list of Montana education institutions and trade associations ready to support the project and provide TransCanada with a trained workforce.

Tester, a long-time supporter of the Keystone XL Pipeline, has voted to approve the pipeline three times.  He specifically strengthened protections for private property in December’s bipartisan agreement that forced a decision on permitting the project.
