Tester: Congress must put citizenship ahead of partisanship

(U.S. SENATE) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester tonight released the following response to the State of the Union Address:

“In order to put America back to work, Montanans expect Congress to put citizenship ahead of partisanship to protect our freedoms, to make responsible decisions for families and small businesses, and to hold Washington accountable to Montana’s values.  My focus for the year ahead remains on working together to create jobs.”

Tester tonight watched the address with Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

During his address, the President urged Congress to create jobs by strengthening start-up companies and small businesses, calling on Congress to "tear down regulations that prevent aspiring entrepreneurs from getting the financing to grow."

Tester recently introduced his Small Company Capital Formation Act with Senator Pat Toomey, R-Penn., which removes regulations to allow new startup companies to raise capital through stock offerings.
