Baucus, Tester announce more than $2.7 million for Ft. Harrison

Money will update facility’s water and wastewater systems

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Montana’s Fort Harrison will receive more than $2.7 million from the National Guard Bureau to update and repair its water and wastewater system, Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester announced today.

The money comes from a special fund to help National Guard facilities update buildings and water systems.

Baucus and Tester noted that the funding for Fort Harrison was made possible due to the hard work of Montana National Guard Adjutant General John Walsh.

“This is a valuable investment in the long-term infrastructure of the Montana National Guard, and it will serve our men and women—and all Americans—for years to come.  When completed, these construction projects will enhance the Montana National Guard’s ability to operate and train Soldiers and Airmen, which ultimately improves readiness for both combat operations and stateside homeland defense and disaster response.” Walsh said.  “As we move forward, I thank Sen. Baucus and Sen. Tester for their continued support of the Montana National Guard, its people and its facilities.”

“This is great news for Montana and our National Guard,” Baucus said.  “This project will bring good-paying jobs to Montana while making our National Guard facilities stronger.”

“When you invest in infrastructure, you invest in jobs and in the future,” Tester said.  “I appreciate Adjutant General’s Walsh strong, effective leadership and his dedication to improving Fort Harrison for the men and women of our National Guard.  They deserve nothing less.”
