Baucus, Tester: 300 Montana schools to receive American artwork

Each school will receive dozens of prints of famous artwork

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Three-hundred schools across Montana will each receive dozens of high-quality prints and photos of America’s most famous works of art, Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester announced today.

The artwork comes to Montana through Picturing America, an initiative funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Baucus and Tester said each school will receive:

• 40 high-quality, 2’x3’ photographs and reproductions of famous paintings.
• An in-depth guidebook to help teachers discuss the prints with students.
• Access to an online resource guide.

“This is great news for thousands of Montana students,” Baucus said.  “These days teachers don’t always have access to important learning tools like art posters.  This program will open new doors for students and teachers to discover together.”

“Understanding history through art is part of any well-balanced education,” Tester said.  “This is a valuable investment in Montana schools that will go a long way in helping students understand our history and our culture as Americans.”
