Senators announce nearly $100,000 for telemedicine and distance learning

Grant will go to Anaconda hospital

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The Community Hospital of Anaconda will
be able to take a step into the 21^st Century, thanks to a grant
announced today by Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester.

The hospital will receive $91,722 to install
communications equipment that will allow the hospital to connect with other
hospitals around the state. The new technology will allow the hospital to
connect with physicians in other parts of the state and conduct web-conferencing
between hospitals.

“Critical access hospitals are cornerstones of our
communities,” Baucus said. “And those cornerstones are better able to serve the
community when they have the best technology available.”

“Connecting our critical access hospitals to each other
will lead to the best possible treatment for folks all across the state, no
matter where they live,” Tester said. “Thanks to this grant Anaconda’s hospital
will be a model for all of Montana.”

Anaconda Community Hospital was awarded the grant from the
U.S. Department of Agriculture.
