Senators announce nearly $600,000 for Montana airports

Money will go to Missoula and West Yellowstone

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Montana’s U.S. Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester today
announced that two Montana airports will receive nearly $600,000
to increase ridership and support expansion.

The Missoula International Airport will receive $485,000 to help support local air service,
as well as attract new air services.

The West Yellowstone Airport will receive $105,000 to increase ridership.  West Yellowstone is currently an Essential Air Service
airport. This grant will help the airport rely less on EAS
subsidies.

“Air travel is an essential way for Montanans to make
the most of our beautiful state- doing business, and visiting friends and
family,” Baucus said. “Expanding service will allow more people to enjoy the

“This money is a smart investment in two important
airports in our state,” Tester said.  “Expanded service will mean more tourism
and more economic development opportunities in Montana.”

The grants are part of the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act
for the 21^st Century, which was designed to help
communities respond to their air transportation needs.
