Jon Tester’s veterans tour finishes on good vibe in Bozeman

Montana’s Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester was in Bozeman on Wednesday for his final meeting with military veterans in a statewide tour he started in June after revelations of data manipulation and mismanagement at the Department of Veterans Affairs’ health care facility in Phoenix.

The scandal sparked national outrage and a nationwide investigation of VA facilities. It also led to the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki in May and a storm of fiery rhetoric from Congress.

As a member of the Senate’s VA committee, Tester played a leading role in crafting Congress’ $16 billion VA reform bill, signed by President Barack Obama in August.
