Tester Statement on Butte Visit from Forest Service Chief

Following a visit from U.S. Forest Service Chief Randy Moore to the Basin Creek landscape near Butte, U.S. Senator Jon Tester issued the following statement:

“Folks in Washington just don’t understand how critical Montana’s clean water is to keeping our communities safe and economy strong, which is why I’m happy to see Chief Moore meeting face to face with folks in Butte to find lasting solutions on the Basin Creek landscape. With the support of Montana DNRC and Butte-Silver Bow, I’ve been fighting to clean up Basin Creek with my bipartisan infrastructure bill, and after hearing directly from folks in the community, the Forest Service should have the knowledge they need to forge lasting solutions. Dead trees surrounding drinking water is a real problem – and I’m looking forward to continuing my conversations with Chief Moore after his visit so that we can make Basin Creek a priority landscape and empower the Forest Service to do right by Butte.”
