Tester announces Bruce Nelson to headline March 12 agriculture workshop

Farm Service Agency administrator to share great advice with Montana farmers

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester announced today that Bruce Nelson, the head of the Farm Service Agency, will address Tester’s Agriculture Small Business Opportunity Workshop on March 12.

Nelson is a fourth-generation wheat farmer from Fort Benton and a former executive director of the Montana Farm Service Agency.  He was appointed to his current position in July.

“Bruce brings decades of experience in agriculture, and I know he’ll share great advice for all Montana farmers,” Tester said.  “Montana’s family farms and ranches are the backbone of our economy, and opportunities like this help the Treasure State keep producing the nation’s best crops and livestock.”

The event will also feature panel discussions on strategic marketing, risk management and finance, and helping farmers get started.

Tester’s Great Falls workshop will take place in Missouri Room of the Mansfield Civic Center on Monday, March 12, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.  Montanans are encouraged to RSVP at tester.senate.gov/workshop.

Tester’s upcoming Small Business Opportunity Workshop is his eleventh workshop.  More than 2,000 Montana companies and individuals have attended Tester’s ten previous small business workshops in Great Falls, Bozeman, Kalispell, Billings, Butte and Missoula.
