Tester statement on progress of Rim Rock wind project

(HELENA, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after an announcement by NaturEner that it will continue construction on the Rim Rock wind power project in Glacier and Toole Counties:

“Bringing Rim Rock online will not only boost our country’s energy security, it will also create jobs and opportunities for Montanans.  That’s a win-win in my book, and a victory that will strengthen the Treasure State’s energy infrastructure for years to come.  I’m proud to support smart projects like Rim Rock that create jobs and look forward to backing similar efforts in the future.”

Rim Rock is a 189 megawatt wind farm project located in Glacier and Toole Counties that is expected to generate enough energy to power more than 60,000 homes.  NaturEner secured a multi-million dollar construction loan from Morgan Stanley to complete the project.

Tester, a long-time supporter of renewable energy, recently joined forces with Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) to introduce a bipartisan bill that streamlines permitting for renewable energy projects.
