Tester: Farm Bill veto 'reckless and wrong' for Montana, rural America

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Jon Tester, a Montana farmer, today released the following statement in response to President Bush's veto, and Congress' expected override, of the Farm Bill:

"I'd like the President to pay a visit to Montana so he can see for himself why vetoing the Farm Bill is reckless and wrong for rural America.  The Farm Bill protects our nation's food security, health and countless hardworking folks who make a living off the land.

Is the Farm Bill perfect?  No.  But it's pretty darn good compromise hammered out with input from both sides of the aisle and all corners of the country.

Thank goodness we have the votes in Congress to tell the President, 'No, not this time.'"
