Tester asks Ag Secretary, FEMA to open up resources in response to flooding

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after asking the U.S. Agriculture Secretary and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to open up resources for Montana communities affected by widespread flooding:

“Damage to homes, highways, farmland and livestock is damage to Montana’s economy.  I’m urging our federal partners to make the appropriate resources available to Montana communities that have been severely hurt by flooding, and I’ve directed my staff to help in any way they can.

“As we watch this situation closely, we’re reminded that Montana’s emergency responders set a gold standard as they protect lives and property.  Sharla’s and my thoughts and prayers are with them, and with all flood victims across Montana.”

Tester’s office can be reached toll-free at 866-554-4403.

Parts of Interstate 90 and other Montana highways were closed Monday due to flooding.
