Billings student nominated by Tester accepted to Naval Academy

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that a Billings student has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Naval Academy.

Richmond Paschall, 17, is an All-State football and track and field athlete. He is a member of the National Honors Society and attended the Naval Academy Summer Seminar and the Coast Guard Academy AIM program. He is actively involved in his church and volunteering in his community.

Senator Tester nominated Richmond based on his academics, athleticism, public service and commitment to serving his country. Today, Senator Tester called Richmond personally to congratulate him on his acceptance.

“I have no doubt that Richmond will serve Montana and his nation proudly in the Naval Academy,” said Tester, a former teacher. “I was proud to nominate Richmond and I wish him the very best as he pursues an education in service to our great nation.”

Late last year, Tester nominated 30 Montana students to the nation’s military service academies based on their academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation in extracurricular activities.

Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website.
