Tester announces $3 million for Montana community service organizations
AmeriCorps grants will support four Montana nonprofits
(U.S. Senate) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that the Corporation for National and Community Service will grant Montana $3 million to support four nonprofits across the state.
The AmeriCorps grants will support Montana Conservation Corps in Bozeman, Justice for Montanans and Montana State Park AmeriCorps in Helena, and FoodCorps Montana in Butte.
“Whether protecting our best outdoor places or ensuring students have healthy food options, when Montanans give back to their communities it makes an impact like no other, and this hard-earned award proves it,” Tester said. “These AmeriCorps grants are an investment in our communities, in our families and neighbors and in our next generation.”
Here is a list of the grant awards:
Montana Conservation Corps: Leads young Montanans in outdoor leadership and conversation service projects, making trails safer.
Bozeman
$1,872,000
Justice for Montanans: Helps Montanans navigate the legal system, access veterans’ benefits and keep their homes. Helena
$227,000

“These phenomenally effective and efficient national service partnerships have proven their worth and value to Montanans and to our communities,” said Heather Margolis, the Montana State Director for ServiceNation. “National Service Members tackle problems, uniting Americans in common purpose, and provide opportunities for members to developed as leaders, or share their experience meeting critical community identified challenges making Montana be the best possible place for us to live, to support our families and to thrive.”
Tester recently urged his fellow members of the Senate Appropriations Committee to strongly support the Corporation for National and Community Service.
