Tester to Amazon CEO: Montana is Open for Business

Senator Invites World’s Largest Online Store to Open Up Shop in Big Sky Country

(U.S. Senate) – Following Amazon’s announcement that the online retailer plans to add 100,000 American jobs in the next 18 months, U.S. Senator Jon Tester invited CEO Jeff Bezos to consider the Last Best Place. Tester made the invite as part of his recently unveiled #EmployMT plan.

“Montana is often defined by our spectacular landscapes, wide-open spaces and top-notch hunting and fishing,” Tester wrote to Bezos. “While we are proud of these attributes, they pale in comparison to our greatest asset, our people. As Amazon continues to grow, I stand ready to work with you to showcase the outstanding traits that Montana can bring to your company.”

In his letter to Bezos, Tester highlighted Montana’s workforce, business friendly tax environment, and world-class University system as reasons to consider Big Sky Country for Amazon’s expansion.

Amazon’s plan includes hiring an additional 25,000 veterans over the next five years. As Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Tester noted that Montana has the second most veterans per capita in the nation.
