Tester and Daines Congratulate Bozeman’s Cole Lower on Appointment to Merchant Marine Academy

(U.S. Senate)-U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines announced today that Bozeman High School’s Cole Lower has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Lower, 18, received a full appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy. Lower is an Eagle Scout, served as President of the Astronomy Club, and was elected Supreme Court Justice at Montana Boy’s State.

“I am confident that Cole will make our state and nation proud as an officer in the U.S. Merchant Marines,” Tester said. “His leadership experience and extracurricular experience make him uniquely qualified for a leadership post in our military. I appreciate his willingness to serve.”

“Cole has proven to be a leader both inside and outside of the classroom and I know he will represent our state well at the Merchant Marine Academy,” Daines stated.

Tester and Daines nominated Lower for the Merchant Marine Academy last year. Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website and Daines’ website.
