Tester Delivers Grant to Upgrade Scobey Airport

Senator Secures $917,049 Grant to Rehabilitate Runway, #ConnectMT

(U.S. Senate)-U.S. Senator Jon Tester brought home a nearly $1 million grant for upgrades to the Scobey Airport.

The grant, totaling $917,049, will go towards rehabilitating the runway and improving lighting at the airport, making travel safer and ensuring the airport will remain useful for years to come.

Tester was the only member of Montana’s congressional delegation to vote for the bipartisan agreement that delivered the money though the Federal Aviation Administration’s grant program.

“These grants are critically important in keeping our airports safe and our communities connected,” said Tester, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which funds the airport grants. “This money will make sure Scobey’s airport stays fit to fly, and will help strengthen the local economy, too.”

Tester has worked hard to improve infrastructure at rural airports as part of his #ConnectMT initiative, including securing $1.5 million for runway improvements at the Lewistown Airport, $217,000 for a new snowplow at the Big Timber Airport, and $1.2 million for safety enhancements at Glacier Park International Airport.
