Tester Fields Questions from Montanans in Online Town Hall

Senator: “Going live is a great way to engage with folks all over the state at the same time”

(U.S. Senate) – Holding true to his commitment to transparency and accountability, U.S. Senator Jon Tester fielded questions from Montanans all over the state in a town hall he hosted via Facebook Live.

Tester took questions from dozens of Montanans on topics ranging from veterans mental health, to the debt, to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis, to immigration and the situation at the southern border.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we need to make Washington look a bit more like Montana,” said Tester. “But we can only do that by engaging with folks across the state to hear their ideas, opinions, and questions, no matter how tough.”

Tester’s live town hall reached more than 5,500 viewers and received nearly 200 comments. This is Tester’s second Facebook Live town hall of the year and comes on the heels of three in-person town hall meetings held over recent months in Bozeman, Missoula, and Helena. Tester will hold additional in-person town halls throughout the summer and fall.

Montanans could submit their questions on Tester’s Facebook page, via email, or by commenting during the livestream. Questions included:

• “We appreciate everything you have done to help America’s veterans. What, in your opinion, are the biggest issues still facing veterans?” – Susan (Kalispell)
• “I feel like our country is so divided. How would you advise me to have productive conversations with people that disagree with me on political issues?” – Bjorn (Bozeman)
• “Senator – what are your top three priorities as a representative of the people of Montana during your current tenure as Senator?” – Bradley (Emigrant)
• “What’s being done about the predator phone calls on our cell phones? Does anyone worry about the seniors that answer these calls?” – Janel (Trout Creek)
