Tester Begins Accepting Applications for Service Academy Nominations

Senator will consider applications from young people across the Treasure State, extends deadline to December 1st

U.S. Senator Jon Tester recently announced that he will now be accepting applications from young Montanans who are pursuing nominations to attend one of the United States Service Academies. He is also extending the deadline for applications to December 1st, 2020 to provide more time for individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to finalize their applications.

“Montanans have a long and proud history of serving in the United States armed forces, and our country’s service academies allow our best and brightest to learn the skills necessary to lead in the military,” said Tester. “Setting up the next generation of Montana leaders for success is one of the best parts of my job as a U.S. Senator, and I’m excited to see what this year’s group of applicants will bring to the table.”

Tester will be accepting applications for nominations to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. By July 1st, 2020, applicants must be at least 17 years of age but not older than 23 years of age (25 years of age for the Merchant Marine Academy); be a United States Citizen and permanent resident of Montana; and be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

Last year, Tester nominated 34 Montanans to Military Service Academies. For more information on how to apply, visit Tester’s website HERE.
