BREAKING: At White House, Tester Announces Deal on Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework
Historic deal will make the most significant investments in Montana’s infrastructure needs in decades
After a meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden and a bipartisan group of 10 Senators, U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced the group has struck a deal on a once-in-a-century infrastructure package to create good-paying jobs by making urgently-needed investments in Montana’s roads, bridges, broadband, water and more. Over the last few weeks, Tester led the negotiations between Republicans, Democrats, and the Biden Administration that resulted in today’s agreement.
“This bipartisan framework is a once-in-a-century investment in Montana’s infrastructure and will create good-paying jobs across the entire state,” Tester said. “For a country that’s been living off our parents’ and grandparents’ infrastructure, its impact cannot be overstated. This package will provide significant, badly-needed investments in Montana’s roads and bridges, broadband, airports, water infrastructure, and allow us to maintain America’s competitive edge over China well into the future. I was proud to work with Republicans and Democrats to negotiate this agreement. This is what Montanans expect from their elected leaders—that we work across the aisle to deliver real, lasting solutions that’ll have a positive impact on everyone who lives in the Last Best Place.”
Now that the landmark bipartisan framework has been agreed to by all parties, Senator Tester will continue leading his colleagues as they negotiate the details of the legislation and work with relevant Senate committees to assemble the legislation. Once a bill has been formally drafted, it will be put on the floor for a vote, and congressional leaders have expressed hope that a Senate floor vote will take place before the August recess. After Senate passage, the legislation must be passed by the House before being signed into law by the President.
Senator Tester’s office will share details of the framework and upcoming legislation as they become available.
