Tester Congratulates Billings’ Kasey Meier on Acceptance to Naval Academy

Senator nominated Meier and 19 other Montanans for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies’ classes of 2026

U.S. Senator Jon Tester congratulated Billings’ Kasey Meier today on his appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Kasey is the captain of the soccer team, a Student Council Representative, and member of the jazz, pep, and symphonic band at Billings West High School. He is also an Eagle Scout, and has participated in the U.S. Naval Academy’s STEM camp and summer seminar, Boys State, and Billings Youth Leadership. For his Eagle Scout service project, he handcrafted 50 halfway home boxes for the USS Nebraska’s midshipmen.

“Montana has a long and proud history of producing some of our nation’s finest leaders in the armed forces, and it’s one my greatest honors as Montana’s Senior Senator to help our state’s promising young students continue that legacy by attending one of our prestigious military service academies,” said Senator Tester. “Kasey is an exceptional student and leader dedicated to serving his country and community, and I’m looking forward to watching his continued success at the Naval Academy where I have no doubt he will keep doing our state proud.”

Earlier this month, Tester nominated Kasey-along with 19 other Montanans-based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is a student’s first step in applying to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
