Tester Congratulates Missoula’s Hannah King on Acceptance to U.S. Naval Academy

Senator nominated King and 23 other Montanans for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies

U.S. Senator Jon Tester congratulates Missoula’s Hannah King on her appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy.

King attends Big Sky High School, where she is the president of the Key Club and captain of the soccer team. She is a member of National Honor Society and earned first place at a Model United Nations competition in 2022. King also participated in Ecology Research with the University of Montana in 2021.

“As Montana’s Senior Senator, I’m honored to help our best and brightest students continue the Treasure State’s proud legacy of service by attending one of our nation’s prestigious service academies,” said Tester.“Hannah is an outstanding student and leader with a dedication to serving her country, and I look forward to seeing her make her state and country proud at the Naval Academy and beyond.”

Tester nominated King—along with 23 other Montanans—in December 2023 based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and dedication to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is a student’s first step in applying to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Montana students who are interested in applying to a military academy in the future can request a nomination from Tester HERE.
